Connected Learning Communities: Learning and Leading in a Digital Age

I was recently asked to share about community in an open learning course delivered by Alec Couros who is a professor at the University of Regina. Open learning courses are a new wave in education that adds a depth and richness to learning for both those in the class and those attending for non credit. There are many K12 applications.

In this presentation I'll talk about:

-what connected learning communities are
-the difference between communities and networks
-the model of learning ecology
-different types of virtual learning communities
-how a community evolves
-and the characteristics of a healthy community

After watching I would love to dialog with you here about your thoughts on community and networks or open learning. Questions?

Do you agree with the 3 pronged approach?
Do you think open learning has a K12 application?
As leaders, do you have a well developed PLN?
