About Me:

The Open World cause is a student-driven project encompassing the efforts of a small community in the United States to bring a brighter future to a group of students at the SAV School located in Bageshwori, Nepal. The cause, thus far, has brought two laptops and internet access to the school, funds to purchase books and furnishings for their library and is now developing a framework to help them sustain their buildings.

Why are you interested in the K-12 Online Conference?

Our cause has an international initiative that can be used as a model to add new perspectives to the conference and a chance for others to be exposed to the capabilities of students and technology in the classroom. We have utilized modern social networking to help us interact on a global level and are designating our efforts to not only expose ourselves to new ways of communication, but to also bring that possibility to the SAV School in a rural and neglected area of Nepal.

What subjects do you teach: (or plan to teach if you are pre-service)

By using technology to reach our own goals we have realized the potential of this kind of arena on an international level. The digital landscape is making so many new things possible, and as we begin to grow accustomed to their use it is as much as we can do to bring to that capability to what would otherwise be an isolated part of the world. We can no longer oppose change; but rather, pay attention to the positive opportunities that it creates. So many students deserve a second chance to learn without feeling crippled by former limitation.
